Making the best with the best.
Fentress County is home to global suppliers in the automotive manufacturing, engineering, transportation, metal manufacturing and raw materials industries. Because of the entrepreneurial spirit and quality educational opportunities in Fentress County, several nationally recognized companies, like Fitzgerald Glider Kits and Micro Metals, have chosen Fentress County as their home base. The affordable cost of doing business in a business-friendly state continues to attract new companies to Fentress County.
Fitzgerald Glider Kits
Fitzgerald Glider Kits is North America’s number one glider kit assembler. Its facility in Byrdstown boasts a 110,000-square-foot building on 31 acres. Fitzgerald chose Fentress County in part because of the space to expand, and in part because of the region’s readily available, trained workforce.
Mountain Barn Builders, LLC
Established in 1992 in Clarkrange, Mountain Barn Builders has expanded beyond barns. It now builds storage buildings, cabins, garages, offices, gazebos, play structures and self-sufficient “tiny homes” that run off solar energy. The owners, natives of Fentress County, chose to stay in this location due to its rich natural resources, low taxes and affordable cost of living.
Micro Metals
Since 1975, Micro Metals has developed products for use in the automotive, electrical, home and garden, construction and other industries. They supply international customers such as IBM, John Deere and RCA. Micro Metals chose to locate its 65,000-square-foot plant in Fentress County for the sizable workforce and central location. The company maintains a federally accredited apprenticeship program to train tool and die makers. It is dedicated to supporting local schools and programs through multiple philanthropic efforts.
